Man Assaulted By Brother Wielding Boat Oar

A local man sought medical treatment during the weekend after his brother allegedly assaulted him with a boat oar.

Deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department were called to Crockett Hospital Sunday to investigate the assault.

The victim, age 23, reported that he and his brother became involved in an argument while they were at Iron City Bridge earlier that day. He said that they had both been drinking alcoholic beverages at the time.

The victim reported that during the argument his brother picked up a boat oar and struck him, causing a large laceration to the top of his head.

Following the attack, the man said that his brother opened the door on his 1991 Chevrolet Blazer, ultimately causing damage to the hinge and fender.

The victim was able to drive himself to the hospital to seek medical assistance.

Investigation into the matter is continuing at the current time.
